In the worst keep secret of all time, Darth Maul will be returning to the Star Wars universe in the CGI kid’s show The Clone Wars. Whilst I could go on about the fact that him returning even after he was clearly got cut in half in the Phantom Menace is pretty stupid, I really can’t be bothered. In fact, as the one good thing to come out of the Phantom Menace, I’m kinda shocked it’s taken them this long to bring him back.
Now we all know that Ray Parks was the man under the make-up and doing the fighting but in one of the weirdest casting choices ever, the voice of Darth Maul was supplied by British Comic Peter Serafinowicz (Who really is a great comic actor and excels at impersonating people, check out his Michael Caine it’s truly amazing). However, here’s a clip of him in action as Maul asking for some cheese:
Seraf…….sara…….Peter won’t be returning to voice the character again but will be replaced by everyone’s favorite Sci Fi “that guy” (as in “Oh, it’s that guy”) Sam Witwer. Chances are you may know him from Smallville, Being Human US, Battlestar Galactica or even Starkiller in The Force unleashed games. You’re possibly less likely to know him as the zombie Rick shoots in the tank in the pilot to The Walking Dead but I assure you, that’s him.

Now I like Witwer and whilst I’m still probably not going to watch the Clone Wars, I might be tempted to tune in to see Darth Maul and hear this guy’s take on the character (Though he can really do what he likes, it wasn’t like Maul was more than an almost silent kung-fu expert in TPM).
